Greg Anderson was taken into custody by way of US marshals a federal connoisseur declared him in contempt of court for defying an order to answer questions before a grand jury in San Francisco.

Anderson was to remain in jail until he agreed to capitulate.

Anderson had serv three month behind bars as part of a plea bargain stemming from his part in the Bay Area Laboratory Cooperative (BALCO) steroid scandal that shook the sporting world.

Anderson's lawyer, Mark Geragos, stepp from the courthouse forward Wednesday and condemned the judge's decision.
